Join the Lion’s Den Pathway Program!
Empower Your Child’s Football Journey
The Lion’s Den Pathway Program at SMOSH West Lakes Junior Football Club is designed to elevate our older players (U14s – U18s, boys and girls) and their coaches. Our goal? To create a clear pathway from Junior to Senior football, strengthen our club community, and foster a vibrant culture of engagement and positivity. We’re dedicated to instilling a lifelong love for football in all our players!
How It Works: A Comprehensive Approach
Two Key AFL Combine Testing Sessions
- Baseline Fitness Test: Late November/Early December
- Progress Check: March, just before the season begins
These sessions allow players to track their fitness journey and set personal goals. Our program emphasizes holistic player development through educational sessions on topics like:
- Wellbeing as an athlete
- Nutrition for peak performance
- The importance of effective leadership in a successful team
Early Registration is Essential!
The program kicks off in November, so don’t wait—register early to secure your child’s spot!
Meet Our Inspiring Ambassadors
We are thrilled to introduce our 2025 Lion’s Den Pathway Program Ambassadors: AFLW and AFL legends Erin Phillips and Dom Cassisi!
Both Erin and Dom are not only champions in the AFLW/AFL realm but also incredible role models who embody the spirit of teamwork and community. They will engage with our Junior Lions, sharing their expertise and leadership insights to inspire the next generation of players.
Why Choose the Lion’s Den Pathway Program?
Our program combines:
- Regular Football Training
- Specialized Physical Training
- Informative Educational Sessions
By integrating these elements, we aim to prepare players physically, mentally, and emotionally for each game. Our approach ensures players have a successful season and continue to enjoy the game—especially during those critical teenage years when interest in sports can wane.
Experienced Coaches at the Helm
We are committed to selecting coaches who are not only skilled but also passionate about player development. They will actively participate in the program and benefit from their own personal development resources.
Premier Training Facility
Training will take place at the PEAQ Performance Centre in Hendon, a state-of-the-art facility run by fitness experts Sean Baker and Darren Burgess. This ensures your child receives top-notch training and support.
Stay Tuned for More Information!
A detailed program schedule outlining session times will be available to families in early 2025.
